Like all companies today, our success depends on strong leadership that embraces the highest level of integrity and ensures excellence in our programming and services. We must demonstrate that we are improving the lives of those we serve and the communities we reside in. We exist because of the generosity of many individuals, corporations, foundations and the United Way of Metropolitan Dallas.

Citizens Development Center was founded in 1951 as a school for children with mental retardation. The roots of our employment services were planted in our work-activity program that was developed for adolescents in the 1960s. Today, students with mental retardation and other disabilities attend public schools and our agency is known as Citizens Development Center.
