Citizens Development Center is a nonprofit agency that exists to empower men and women with disabilities to achieve their highest level of employability and ultimately their highest level of independence. There are more than 600,000 people with disabilities in the DFW Metroplex. That is enough men, women and children to fill the Texas Stadium nine times over.

More than half of these individuals are employment age and yet face an unemployment rate of 34-46% compared to 4.5% for the general population. If they are to become taxpaying citizens, those with more severe disabilities will need caring advocates to help them navigate the increasingly complex recruiting and hiring process at area businesses. For those who prefer a protected environment to community employment, we provide that as well.

We invite you to learn more about Citizens Development Center. Please check out our programs and services, browse our quarterly newsletters, and find out how YOU can help adults with disabilities. Come inside and see for yourself how we're changing lives and impacting the community while fulfilling our mission: to empower men and women with disabilities to achieve their highest level of employability.

Operation Employment provides training and job placement services to veterans from the Iraq and Afghanistan wars who have service-connected disabilities.  For more information or to make a referral, please contact Bertha Givens at 214-637-2911 or bgivens@cdcdallas.org
